Quickstart Guide for Admins

You are now an Admin on your company's Claira account. Here are some pointers to help get you started on the platform.

Once your team has been onboarded - in other words, completed the Claira profile questionnaire, you will be able to deep-dive into the data that is collected. We're here to help you unbox the undiscovered competencies in your organization!

You will have a clear list of each individual's competencies, and know ahead of time what gaps may be important to focus on for growth. For individual reviews, it will be easy to spot how the employee has grown, or what plans can be made to continue their development.

Last but not least, spotting competencies that individual employees possess that are not present in their current list of required competencies for the role, can be great indicators of what competencies might be worth taking into account for the role when considering future candidates. This will also help you create stronger and more well-rounded external job descriptions.

That being said, let's take a look at what you can direct your attention toward in order to get going.

  • Reviewing roles - To see more information regarding each role, you can simply navigate to the ‘'Organization'’ → ‘'Roles'’ tab and you will be able to see a full list of roles within the company, the number of people currently working in each role, and the total percentage of tapped competencies. From the search bar at the top, you will also be able to filter through departments or names to help you focus more specifically on what interests you.

  • Reviewing people - "Organization" → ‘'People'’, you will able to see the full list of employees working in your organization, along with their primary role title, and their account status (invited or active) to help you determine if they have set up their profile. You will also be able to see their match score for their role.
    • Invited users are those who have been invited to create a Claira profile but have not completed it.
    • Active users are the ones that were invited and have completed their profiles.

You might be wondering why or how it's useful for you to see this information.

The importance of comparing people to roles: 

Having the possibility to compare an individual’s competencies to those required for the role is an advantage that comes in handy in multiple scenarios:

  • Manager/employee conversation - evaluating what competencies an employee has vs. what they are missing. 
  • Matches/gaps - identifying the matches versus the gaps is great in cases where the manager is looking for ways to help the employee improve on their competencies to better fit the role or to plan for professional development such as training, workshops, or courses.
  • Work with employees to update their profile - after reviewing an employee’s profile, a manager may identify competencies that the individual possesses but that have not been added to their list of competencies. At this point, the manager can suggest that the employee add these competencies to their list.
  • Update role based on learnings in discussion with an employee - sometimes employees may have important competencies that were not included in the role requirement but would be great to add to the list of competencies required especially when hiring for this role in the future.

There is also some important terminology to note:

    • Tapped Competencies - competencies required for the role that an individual also possesses 
    • Untapped Competencies - competencies not required for the role but that the individual possesses
    • Gaps - competencies that are required for a role but that the individual does not possess
    • Role Coverage - you will be able to see this under each individual’s profile. Role coverage measures what portion of a role's required competencies are met by the assigned individual's profile. In this section, you will be able to also filter through the competencies that are a perfect match, a close match, or a gap for this specific individual.
